Creating Teachpreneurs

Every Sunday night, teachers across America are familiar with a host of feelings that have been coined the “Sunday Scaries.” Some are excited by the opportunities of a new week, while others are exhausted by the stress of planning lessons to meet constantly shifting educational mandates and the significant emotional needs of an entire generation of students who faced learning loss during and after COVID. The current political climate means that they also feel targeted and are at risk of being fired or demonized for their actions, simply because of a single out-of-context conversation or a misleading video.

Creating Teachpreneurs is one way to transform those Sunday Scaries into Monday possibilities. It's a tactical guide and motivational manifesto designed to help educators leverage their existing skills, such as strategic planning, content design, and resilience, and turn them into a profitable and fulfilling business on their own terms.

My name is Andy Givens, and I am a lifelong educator with over 22 years of experience teaching at the middle and high school levels. I currently teach  Entrepreneurship in Henrico County, Virginia, where I run a unique specialty high school program that helps students start and manage their own businesses.

In addition to my work in the classroom, I have built a successful second career as a Realtor over the last 11 years, helping hundreds of people achieve their dream of homeownership. This dual career, combined with my experience teaching entrepreneurship, provides me with a unique perspective that offers insights relevant and accessible to potential Teachpreneurs.
